They really pull heavily into the stock fantasy tropes (Skyrim less so) a lot and are quite derivative, Oblivion especially falling into this. I admit, while I like Oblivion and Skyrim.
Don't skimp on the fantasy: This is a big personal one for me and one many of you probably don't care about. The issue is that levelling non-combat abilities like Smithing, Enchanting, Speech, Alchemy etc are REALLY tedious and slow to get levelled without exploits or mods, with most people I've seen online encouraging using exploits like the Iron Dagger and Gold Rings strategy to level up because it's so slow which shouldn't be the case and something I hope they take in account for the next game.
Oblivion felt like you were forced to pick right at the start and stick with it before you got a chance to explore and Fallout 4 felt so combat focused, other types of gameplay were discouraged or impossible.
Make levelling passive abilities less of a chore: Skyrim's levelling system isn't bad and I like that Bethesda really tried to let the player diversify, explore and experiment with it's gameplay. I hope the long development cycle means they've taken time to iron out their games but we'll see with Starfield if that is the case. Please less bugs: This one seems obvious and I really hope after the pushback with Fallout 76 has really gotten through how constant crashes, game breaking bugs and the like really don't cut it anymore. I'm planning in getting a Series S eventually so I can play TES6, but it would be nice to see some things change. To be clear this isn't me bashing the games. It still has its faults that could be fixed and improved upon for the sequel. Given the recent talk (well snark) about the Elder Scrolls 6 on Era, I've been wondering what I would like to see improved in The Elder Scrolls 6 from Skyrim because, while it's aged better then the Fallout games have from that era in terms of gameplay. Though on the plus side, the mission Blood and Ice FINALLY worked for me. Besides the crashing because of the autosaves that I ended up having to disable. As the title says, I've been playing Skyrim again (High Elf, become thane of seven of the eight regions, done the Companions and Thieves Guild and going onto the Dark Brotherhood) and I'm having fun with it.
